Stackbit now supports using your own custom themes, no matter what static site generator they were built for. All themes with structured schema driven by Markdown page files with YAML front matter and JSON/YAML/TOML data/config files can use Uniform and Stackbit.
Prepare a theme for conversion
The theme you are converting will need to have a stackbit.yaml with a valid content model.
Validate the theme with Unibit CLI
You can validate themes locally using the Unbit CLI. See the Unibit Installation guide if you do not already have Unibit installed via NPM.
Using your theme with Stackbit
Its easy to create a new CMS-powered site from your theme, here are the steps:
- Create a new Stackbit project (No sign-up required)
- On the right hand side where it says "Use Your Own Theme" click "Learn More >"
- Paste the Github URL of your theme, it will be validated and you'll be on your way to creating a new website.
* You can also use the Create With Stackbit button construct a direct link to the new project flow with your custom theme URL preset.
